Senior Planner
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and project managing a variety of urban and rural land use projects, providing senior-level planning advice and client liaison.
- Developing land use concepts and policies, statutory plans, land use bylaws, urban design guidelines and strategic planning studies.
- Planning and conducting community consultation and public information programs.
- Making presentations to clients, committees, community groups and elected officials.
- Managing professional and support staff in mapping, graphics, research and report production.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Degree in Urban Planning or related discipline, with full membership in Canadian Institute of Planners.
- Minimum 7 years planning experience, preferably in both the public and private sectors.
- Knowledge of Alberta land use planning policy and legislation.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Proven project management experience adhering to project budgets and schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Good computer skills.
- Valid drivers license some travel required.
Planner
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare statutory plans, land use bylaws, development proposals, urban design guidelines, planning studies and various presentation materials.
- Conduct research and writing on a variety of land-related topics with the ability to interpret and present relevant information clearly and accurately.
- Plan and document community consultation activities including focus groups, workshops and open houses.
- Oversee support staff in mapping, graphics and report production.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline, with membership (full or provisional) in the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Minimum two years of planning experience.
- Good understanding of urban and regional planning principles, as well as knowledge of Alberta planning legislation and policies.
- Excellent research, writing and computer skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid drivers license some travel required.
